Explore the intricate interpretations of what has been the core of libraries for centuries, the book, at our International Art of the Book exhibit. Featuring artist books, which can include scrolls or fold-outs; altered books, which have been recycled creatively; and paper sculptures. Jackboxing

Some of our favorite local improvisers and comedians duel it out digitally. Their weapons are their cellphones, and their arenas are the Jackbox Party games. Craig Walsh, MONUMENTS

What does it mean to honor someone with a monument...and who should be honored in such a public way? Australian artist Craig Walsh returns with an answer, challenging us to select three people from our community who deserve to be recognized--but who may never rise to public consciousness without his unique way of celebrating them. Walsh projects the living, moving faces of these Rochesterians on tall trees. Finalist for CITY's "Best of Rochester Awards" for its first installment last year.

Horn Choir Remembrance Concert

The Eastman Horn Choir was founded in 1968 by Verne Reynolds, professor emeritus of horn at the Eastman School of Music, who served as its director until his retirement in 1995. From its inception, the choir’s mission has been to provide an expanded ensemble experience for the horn students; to acquaint them with the breadth of quality repertoire within our musical culture; and to encourage contemporary composers to create original works for multiple horns. That's Life - the Sounds of Sinatra

Humans are single beings composed of two selves—the light and the dark, the free and the trapped, petal and concrete. The Rochester Adult Ballet Company presents a modern ballet telling the story of how these contrasting feelings cannot exist alone. Just as one must know pain to understand love, we must collapse like concrete in order to feel the lightness of petal. When concrete fractures under the weight of the world, petal's brightness is there to light the way back to balance.

Rebecca Aloisio + Mitch Goldstein

Artists Rebecca Aloisio and Mitch Goldstein explore a visual cacophony of collage, sculpture, light and installation based on chance and experimentation using recycled images and materials. Aloisio is a Pollock-Krasner grant recipient, and Goldstein is the author of "How to Be a Design Student." Both are faculty at the College of Art and Design at RIT. They share a shared focus on stretching the boundaries of art and design in their individual work, their teaching, and in this exhibit.

Silent Reflections: A Journey Through Events that Shaped Our City

Mid-Century Modern Jazz Quartet

Straight-ahead jazz from the period known in design circles as mid-century modern, roughly the 1940s through '60s. The quartet features Al Biles on trumpet and flugel, Chuck Dye on seven-string guitar, Bruce Goldman on upright bass, and Steve Gates on drums. Their repertoire includes Miles, Monk, Gershwin, Golson, Porter, Shorter, Silver, Rollins, Jobim, and Ellington. They’ve played together in various overlapping groups for years, but this quartet is special!
