I Knew A Woman...
"I Knew a Woman..." is an exploration of female archetypes in relation to Theodore Rothke's poem "I Knew a Woman." The show challenges the textbook definitions of each archetype and questions Rothke's depiction of an "ideal woman." Lines from Rothke's poem are spoken and interwoven throughout the choreography. The show examines themes of idealized beauty, pressures of motherhood, opposition against female social constructs and attitudes towards aging.
