Black + White: A Theatrical Tango Dance Production

"Black + White" is a theatrical dance performance that explores the concept of opposition through movement, music and imagery. A single black and white photograph is used to inspire each of the acts in the show. Conceptualized and choreographed by world-renowned tango artist Fernanda Ghi and featuring the music of Astor Piazzolla and photographs by Andres Mario de Varona, this unique fusion of art forms is a must-experience.

Black Matter

Following the 2018 sold-out reading of "Black Matter" at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, director Aubrey Williams brings back a heart-wrenching, gut-busting preview about Black love, Black life and Black taboos. Williams’ inspiring production combines West African and contemporary dance, call and response, modern music, traditional African drumming and enhanced special effects to create an intimate and thought-provoking atmosphere. Audiences will witness the creative process in flux while experiencing this workshop-in-progress draft of the final play.

BlacKkKlansman

Blindfolded Improv or The Larval Mask Play

An improvised play with Shakespearean elements of love, danger and mischief – and oh, did we forget to mention that performers will be in masks and unable to see or talk? Celebrating the Life of Paul J. Burgett through Music

Paul Burgett (1946-2018), beloved friend of the Rochester Fringe Festival, Gateways Music Festival and all things Rochester, viewed the world through the lens of music. For Paul, music had the power to heal and to bring people together. This performance features some of the music Paul loved most – from classical to jazz – played by Gateways Music Festival's Brass Collective, a national touring group featuring musicians Courtney Jones and Herb Smith (trumpets), Eric Davis (French horn), Isrea Butler (trombone) and Richard White (tuba).

Charlie and the Siberian Monkey Goddess

When a psychiatrist – or a Siberian Monkey Goddess, beautiful and terrible in her wrath – is confronted by someone who believes themself to be Charlie Chaplin, she becomes determined to convince "Charlie" that they're merely a very disturbed individual attempting to escape from their own unhappiness. Charlie Landsman: Stand Up & Get Down

Armed with an acoustic guitar, comedy songwriter and Rochester native Charlie Landsman delivers a unique blend of catchy melodies and irreverent humor as he skewers the NYC subway, toxic masculinity, online dating and much more. Charlie has worked for Comedy Central and has performed musical comedy on stages across the country, including at the North Carolina Comedy Festival and the NY Comedy Music Festival. He currently lives in Los Angeles and drives a bright orange Prius.

Charming Disaster: A Musical Tarot Reading

Playfully macabre musical duo Charming Disaster (Brooklyn’s Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris) perform an interactive musical tarot reading, with audience members selecting cards that not only determine the set list but also predict the future.
