Volunteer
Volunteer – and get an inside look at life in the Fringe!
There are all kinds of opportunities to volunteer for the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival. Be an usher, help sell tickets, serve refreshments, take pictures, and more. To apply to be a volunteer, please click here: http://tiny.cc/rocfringevolunteer
Volunteering has its benefits
A free ticket to headliner shows! For every six hours you work you’ll get a coupon good for one ticket to either the Harlem Gospel Choir with The Campbell Brothers, or comedian Patton Oswalt. AND, you’ll get invited to a sneak preview of a Bandaloop performance.
A free t-shirt! Come on – everyone loves a free t-shirt. You can wear it proudly to let everyone know you are an official Rochester Fringe Festival volunteer.
How Volunteering Works
Volunteering for Fringe is easy. We provide plenty of support so that you have a great experience. Every volunteer is asked to attend one or two training sessions before the festival. Volunteer Job Descriptions
Ticket takers
Sell tickets at the venues and help reconcile the box office after each show. You should be comfortable handling cash, multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
Ushers
Ushers play many, many roles for the Fringe: You’re the host of the show, the program distributor, well basically, the face of the Rochester Fringe Festival.
Hot Spare
You’re really floaters — we just like saying hot spare. Arrive at set shift start time as listed on the volunteer schedule. Tasks will vary from assistance with ushering, running errands, and filling in.
This is a jack-of-all-trades position.
Courier
Couriers assist with ferrying people and items between the venues and headquarters quickly and efficiently. Couriers also ensure that box offices, concessions, goods, t-shirts, and people are escorted to and from each venue. Couriers need to have a car available for their shift.
Fringe Info Desk
Volunteers at the Fringe Info Desk will be stationed on Gibbs St. for their shift and available to help direct Fringe patrons and answer their questions. Please only sign up for this shift if you are comfortable with all Fringe front-of-house procedures, handling cash, and talking to people about Rochester Fringe.
