STREB Extreme Action Company

STREB in SEA (Singular Extreme Actions)

Friday Performance: 8pm
Saturday Performances: 5pm, sometime between 7-11 (weather permitting)

World-renowned choreographer and Rochester native Elizabeth Streb celebrates STREB’s 30th Anniversary with these special homecoming performances of SEA.

Prepare to be blown away as STREB Extreme Action Heroes test the limits of the human body through a fusion of slam dancing, wild action sport, and falling from height.  On three incredible stages, they careen through, around, and above giant, invented hardware, backed by a live DJ and the thumping tunes of some of today’s best beat producers.

Widely documented in the international press for their explosive and inventive style, STREB has performed at the Vancouver and London Olympics, the Pan American Games, and Lincoln Center.

How to Enjoy STREB: The performance will occur on three stages at PARCEL 5. Prepare to move between the stages to get up close and personal to the action. You’ll want to.

5:15pm – The Buddhahood
Since 1996, The Buddhahood has been driving their World-Ternative Groove train in and out of Rochester, whipping crowds of beloved fans into frenzy, blurring the line between stage and dance floor and transcending audiences with their explosive and soulful shows. There is an incarnation on the scene whose musical energy comes from power and spirit with songs about perspective, picking oneself up and having crazy amounts of fun.

6:35pm – Sisters of Murphy
Fringe fave Sisters of Murphy is a seven-piece, Celtic rock band from Rochester. Playing shows in both traditional Irish pubs and large festival venues, Sisters of Murphy is always well received, due to the band’s high-energy shows and its mix of catchy, memorable original music with traditional Irish favorites. Sisters of Murphy has released two CDs and is currently working on its third, due for release this September.

8pm – STREB
Prepare to be blown away by Extreme Action Heroes.

8:45pm — The YellowJackets
The renowned student a cappella group from NBC’s The Sing-Off returns! Experience the perfect harmonies of the University of Rochester’s oldest a cappella group. The all-male group hailsfrom the University’s River Campus and Eastman School of Music. Be a groupie:

9:30pm – KOPPS
Attention! An emergency has been reported in this building. Please cease operations and leave the building … NOPE! And so begins your singular intro to this electro-pop band. If you like the bass line in Joywave’s Tongues (co-created by KOPPS), you will love KOPPS’ work. Asked how they describe their sound: It’s kind of like fresh fruit or baby laughs but with regular sized boots. And oh, Little Richard is their spirit animal.

Based out of Rochester, NY, the band performs at a clubs and festivals as well as for private events. Whether playing as the Acoustic Duo, the Mansfield Trio, or the full four-to-five-piece group that delivers a “‘wall of sound,” audiences are guaranteed to enjoy each performance from opener to encore.

9:05pm – The Demos
Proudly hailing from Rochester, NY, this melodic alternative rock band has been impressing audiences with its infectious songwriting and performances. Its well-received new EP, PARAMOUNT CLOUDS, serves up a batch of songs in which sweet-toothed power pop meets street-savvy attitude, reminiscent of that last great wave of downtown-NYC rock that gave us The Strokes, The Yeah YeahYeahs, etc. Airplay is building on the ultra-catchy, breathless rocker “Clearly,” heard on Sirius/XM’s Alt Nation and others.
